Lines
This element of art specializes in the use of lines to make this design. The lines are the basic elements that form this shape. Lines are connected to form the image and give it the shape. The lines are the basic elements that form this shape. By using only lines, the image is enhanced and shines.

Texture

This element of art specializes in the use of texture. The texture is rough and hard as shown by the rigid features. Furthermore, the texture of this design shows how solid the design is. With rough texture, this design is strong and firm.

Space
This design is shown through the element of space. This design uses boxes to give it a 3-D look through the box position. It uses different sizes to help form the shape of the design. This creates an illusion-like picture and effectively highlights the element space.

Value

This image exemplifies the use of the element of art value. The value of this image is highlighted through the use of the light and dark portions of the image. The lighting of this image gives a brilliant look of a clear ball and shadow. With the range of value this image uses, it creates an aesthetic look.
Shape
This image showcases the uses of shapes to form an image. The shapes used are used to form an image. These shapes make the bases of other pictures. By using the shapes as an base, it highlights the basics of an image.

What does it take to create good graphic design?

An understanding of principles for lines and elements.

What is the difference between elements and principles?

Elements can be isolated and is used to make design while principles tell us how to use them.

Name the six (6) elements of design.

Line, Shape or Form, Space, Texture, Value and Color.

What can lines aid in, when alone or combined with  other lines or shapes?

Readability, appearance, message of the design.

Which lines suggest a feeling of rest? Why do you think?

Horizontal Lines. I think it suggests a feeling of rest because it is laying down.

Vertical lines communicate a feeling of what? Why do you think?

Loftiness. This is because it is standing up and it looks tall.

What lines suggest a feeling of movement? Why do you think?

Diagonal Lines. It looks like if they are falling, which is movement.

Soft, shallow curved lines suggest what? Why do you think?

Comfort, safety, and relaxation. This is because it looks peaceful.

These lines suggest confusion and turbulence? Why do you think?

Curved lines, because it also looks violent if put in another perspective.

What element defines a specific area of space? What is the difference between two dimensional shapes

and three dimensional shapes?

The elect is shape and the difference between two dimensional shapes and three dimensional shapes is that two dimensional has width and height while three dimensional has width, height, and depth

Describe the difference between geometric shapes and organic shapes?

Geometric shapes are symmetrical shapes such as circle, triangle and square
Organic shapes are manmade shapes found in nature that are often irregular and fluid, such as leaves

What are abstract shapes?

Simplified versions of natural shapes

Which basic shape projects an attitude of honesty or equality?

Square projects honestly and equality
What do triangles suggest?

Triangles suggest action and stability

Circles convey feelings of what?

Circles suggest a feeling of protection and infinity

Describe positive space and negative space?  What is texture? Incorporating texture into a design can help do what? What is value?

Positive space refers to the object and elements used for a design while negative space refers to the shape around the object. Texture is the actual surface of the design. Incorporating texture will help the create the feeling of richness and depth. Value the degree of light and dark of the design. It's the contrast between black and white

What is another name for value?  What can the element of color do when incorporated into a  design?

Value is also known as tone. Colors can be used to convey a mood, attract attention, and identify an object. Color can also be applied to other elements of design.

What is the pen tool used for?

The pen tool is used to make lines to form shapes for design.

How can you manipulate a path/line in Illustrator? Discuss the use of the white arrow tool. Pen+, pen-,and convert tool.

You can manipulate a path or line in Illustrator by converging anchor points or using the direct select tool. The white arrow tool, or direct select tool, is used to curve shapes. Pen + creates an anchor point, pen - subtracts an anchor point, and convert tool is takes an anchor point and curves it.

How can you utilize the layers palette in Illustrator?

The layers palette allows for shapes to move to organize shapes. We can use it to make certain shapes in front or back.

How do you create a clipping mask in Adobe Illustrator?

The following guidelines apply to creating clipping masks:
  • The objects that you mask are moved into the clipping mask’s group in the Layers panel if they don’t already reside there.
  • Only vector objects can be clipping masks; however, any artwork can be masked.
  • If you use a layer or group to create a clipping mask, the first object in the layer or group masks everything that is a subset of the layer or group.
  • Regardless of its previous attributes, a clipping mask changes to an object with no fill or stroke.

Why/how can icons be used to communicate?

Icons visually communicates through the observer by grabbing their interest and breaking down content. It also makes subjects less intimidating.

Via the internet, find 2 examples of common icons that clearly communicate their message.
